Stocky, sturdy, and small, the Lancashire Heeler is a terrier working dog in compact form. They have large, erect ears that give them an alert expression. The Lancashire Heeler’s coat is short and thick, perfect for outdoor romping. Friendly and social dogs, they are always down for a walk. One striking characteristic of the Lancashire Heeler dog is what’s called the “Heeler Smile.” When happy, the Lancashire Heeler can draw back their lips which makes it look like they are smiling like a human. They are the smallest of the Heeler dogs, weighing only 9 to 17 pounds.
